Ogre Municipality continues plein-air painting series – August session in Mazozoli, September in Krape
Ogre municipality is running a series of free plein-air painting events that let residents explore the region through art; the next sessions take place on August 22 in Mazozoli parish and September 5 at Krape manor park.

For several months, Ogre municipality has been hosting a series of plein-air painting events aimed at giving people a chance to create art, get to know their region better, and strengthen local community ties. The first session took place on July 4 in Tome, where 16 participants from Ikšķile, Dārziņi, Riga and Ogre municipalities painted landscapes along the Daugava riverbank, the area around Tome's community and parish houses, and the rose-surrounded building of the Ķegums Museum, with support from museum director Ligita Ādamsone. Nearby graves and a church were also among the chosen subjects. After painting, participants visited the museum's exhibitions dedicated to poet and publisher Jāzeps Osmanis and writer Regīna Ezera.
Upcoming sessions
On August 22, participants will gather in Mazozoli parish, hosted by Lauma Cielava, owner of Mazozolu Manor. The session coincides with apple season at her organic farm, and with support from parish head Klinta Ieleja, participants will also explore historic and scenic sites, including the banks of the Līčupe.
On September 5, the event moves to Krape manor park. Participants will paint in the park during the morning, then join the Krape Manor festival in the afternoon with a small exhibition of their work. The event is supported by the "Lauskis" berry winery, giving participants a chance to see work by creative residents of the Krape smart village, taste Latvian berry wines, enjoy raspberry season, and listen to instruments from the Sound House.

The sessions are open to anyone, regardless of prior painting experience. Classes are led by artist and educator Astra Rubene, who provides professional guidance.
