Opel has unveiled a new performance-focused variant of its electric supermini, the Corsa GSE, bringing back the long-known GSE badge in 2026. It is the most powerful and dynamic Corsa built so far.

Powertrain and range

The front-wheel-drive electric motor produces 207 kW, or 281 hp, and 345 Nm of torque, propelling the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 180 km/h. Power comes from a 54 kWh lithium-ion battery offering up to 374 km of range, with average consumption between 16.0 and 17.0 kWh per 100 km. A fast charger can take the battery from 20% to 80% in roughly 27-30 minutes, while AC charging supports up to 11 kW.

Chassis and brakes

To match its sporty character, the Corsa GSE gets a specially tuned, lowered sport suspension, reworked axles and stabilizers, and hydraulic rebound stops. The front axle features a Torsen mechanical limited-slip differential, while braking is handled by four-piston Alcon sport brakes. Drivers can choose between three modes: Sport, Normal and Eco.

Design and features

Visually, the car stands out with 18-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, sporty spoilers, a black roof and GSE badging. Inside, it features Alcantara sport seats, yellow seatbelts, heated seats and steering wheel, and a 10-inch touchscreen that can display performance data, including g-force readings. It also offers bidirectional V2L charging.

At 4,082 mm long and weighing 1,629 kg, the Corsa GSE retains compact-car proportions. In Germany, pricing starts just under €40,000.
