OpenAI opens Madrid office to boost ChatGPT expansion in Spain
OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, has announced a new office in Madrid to deepen cooperation with Spanish businesses and institutions.

OpenAI, the company behind the ChatGPT artificial intelligence tool, has announced the opening of an office in the Spanish capital Madrid. The new office is expected to become operational later this year as part of the company's strategy to expand in Europe and strengthen cooperation with local businesses, developers and institutions.
According to local reports, weekly active users of ChatGPT in Spain have increased by more than 40% year-on-year, placing the country among the top five European markets for this metric. OpenAI believes Spain has established itself as one of the most dynamic technology and artificial intelligence ecosystems in Europe, with a growing number of companies integrating AI tools into their processes and services.
The new hub will enable OpenAI to work more closely with Spanish companies, public administrations, research centres and developers that use its AI models. The company has already followed a similar strategy in other European countries, where it has opened offices to drive adoption of its technologies and strengthen its regional presence.
Founded in 2015 and best known for launching ChatGPT, OpenAI has accelerated its international expansion in recent years. The company already has offices in cities such as London, Paris, Brussels and Munich as part of a strategy designed to consolidate its footprint in Europe.
