OpenAI launches ChatGPT Work, a new productivity tool for work
OpenAI has released ChatGPT Work, combining its chatbot, Codex coding agent, and a web browser into one desktop app, featuring task scheduling, computer control, and app integration.

OpenAI has unveiled its long-awaited 'super app' — ChatGPT Work, a unified productivity platform that brings together several of the company's tools. Development started in March, groundwork was laid in April, and now the product is rolling out to the public.
ChatGPT Work is powered by the new GPT-5.6 model family, whose release was temporarily delayed by the Trump administration. The tool integrates ChatGPT, the Codex coding agent, and the Atlas web browser, though Atlas is set to be deprecated — the company targets August 9 for its discontinuation.
The new app supports task scheduling: you can give instructions from your phone, and the agent will work remotely. When you return to your desk, you can track progress via web browser or the desktop app. ChatGPT Work can also control your computer — moving files, performing actions across apps and the browser.
A unified plugin directory lets you connect ChatGPT to your favorite apps. By typing '@' followed by an app name in a prompt, ChatGPT can use or pull context from that app. The chatbot may also suggest relevant apps during conversations. Automation includes task scheduling — for example, ChatGPT can review Slack updates and generate a weekly summary. OpenAI emphasizes that users remain in control of access and actions.
A standout feature is Sites: ChatGPT can generate web apps such as live dashboards, project trackers, launch calendars, prototypes, and interactive reports.
ChatGPT Work's rollout begins today and is expected to complete within 24 hours. Free users can try it on the desktop app (available on Mac and Windows). Plus and Pro subscribers can also use the web client.
