Osaka Arrives at Wimbledon in a Kimono to Honor Japanese Culture
Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka defeated Elsa Jacquemot in the first round of Wimbledon and explained her kimono outfit choice in a post-match interview.

In the first round of Wimbledon, 14th-seeded Naomi Osaka of Japan defeated French player Elsa Jacquemot (ranked 80th) with a score of 6:1, 7:5. On court, Osaka drew attention not only for her performance but also for her distinctive attire — a traditional Japanese kimono. During the post-match interview, Osaka explained that her outfit was intentional: she wanted to showcase Japanese cultural heritage and drew inspiration from a character in the film "Kill Bill." She also noted that the bold display serves as a form of therapy for her naturally shy personality. The Wimbledon official social media account shared a video of her appearance.
