Ostapenko to Face Brit Jones in Eastbourne First Round
Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko will open her Eastbourne WTA 250 campaign against home favourite Francesca Jones.
The draw for the Eastbourne International took place on Saturday, revealing that third seed Jelena Ostapenko (world No. 38) will face British wildcard Francesca Jones (world No. 99) in the first round. The tournament, which has been downgraded from a WTA 500 to a WTA 250 event this year, begins on June 22.
Should Ostapenko advance, she will meet either Hungarian Panna Udvardy (No. 68) or Anna Bondar (No. 74) in the second round. The top seed in her quarter is Germany's Laura Siegemund (No. 42), who could be the quarterfinal opponent.
Top billing belongs to Italy's Jasmine Paolini, while American Madison Keys is the second seed. The Eastbourne tournament runs from June 22 to 27, serving as the final warm-up before Wimbledon, which starts on June 29.
