Ostapenko surpasses $20 million in career prize money
Jelena Ostapenko won her first-round match at Wimbledon, pushing her career prize money past the $20 million mark.

Latvian tennis star Jelena Ostapenko has officially crossed the $20 million threshold in career prize money following her first-round victory at Wimbledon. Before the tournament, she had accumulated $19,956,841 in prize money. By simply competing in the first round, she earned enough to reach the milestone.
For advancing to the second round, Ostapenko will receive approximately $166,605, bringing her total career earnings to around $20,123,446, according to WTA data. The majority of her prize money has come from singles competitions.
For comparison, fellow Latvian tennis player Anastasija Sevastova earned $8,765,974 in her career, while Ernests Gulbis collected $7,668,948. Darja Semenistaja, currently the second-ranked Latvian, has earned about $1.1 million.
Ostapenko's best year in terms of prize money was 2017, when she earned $3,998,026, largely from singles tournaments. In 2018, she earned $2,602,164, and in 2024, $2,332,483. So far in 2026, she has earned approximately $1,398,959.
Ostapenko is the only Latvian tennis player to have surpassed the $20 million mark in career prize money, a unique achievement in the country's tennis history.
