Ostapenko and Arevalo convincingly reach Wimbledon mixed doubles quarterfinals
Latvia's Jeļena Ostapenko and El Salvador's Marcelo Arevalo defeated Horhea Molteni and Andreas Juraka 6:2, 6:2 to advance to the Wimbledon mixed doubles quarterfinals.

Jeļena Ostapenko and Marcelo Arevalo secured a convincing victory in the second round of the Wimbledon mixed doubles tournament on Saturday, July 5th. The Latvian-Salvadoran pair beat the Argentine-Austrian duo of Horhea Molteni and Andreas Juraka 6:2, 6:2 in just 58 minutes.
In the match, Ostapenko and Arevalo excelled in serve performance and break point conversion. They broke their opponents' serve twice in the first set (second and eighth games) and twice in the second set (fourth game after a double fault by Juraka, and in the final game when Molteni failed to handle Ostapenko's shot). The winners dominated in first-serve points won (88% vs 61%), second-serve points won (55% vs 42%), total points (53 vs 35), and converted 4 out of 6 break points, while their opponents failed to convert any of their 6 opportunities. The ace-to-double-fault ratio was 7-2 vs 4-2.
The pair had faced a grueling day earlier – Ostapenko played long doubles matches the previous day, but they performed strongly this time. Arevalo, 35, has two French Open men's doubles titles (2022, 2024), while the 29-year-old Ostapenko won the US Open women's doubles title in 2024. In mixed doubles, their best results are Arevalo's US Open final (2021) and Ostapenko's Wimbledon final (2019).
For reaching the quarterfinals, Ostapenko/Arevalo will receive a prize of £19,000 (approximately €22,165), while the champions will earn £148,000 (€172,655). In the next round, they will face Germany's Laura Siegemund (38) and France's Édouard Roger-Vasselin (42).
