Osteopath Carla Posnere, who specialises in bone and skeletal health, has told Newsweek about five common everyday habits that can negatively affect bone condition. According to her, these habits may appear harmless, but over the long term they can weaken the musculoskeletal system and increase the risk of various bone problems.

Why early attention matters

The specialist points out that concern for bone health should not begin only in old age — caring for the skeleton matters much earlier in life. Most people reach their peak bone mass at around 25 to 30 years of age. After that point, bone mass gradually begins to decline, which means everyday habits continue to affect skeletal condition later in life as well.

Posnere emphasises that ordinary, seemingly minor habits can accumulate over time and have a real impact on the strength and overall health of the skeleton.
