On the desk of otolaryngologist Inese Daine-Loža at Riga 1st Hospital, two toy dinosaurs stand as 'support persons' that help calm both children and adult patients. In her daily practice, she deals with a wide range of issues: from adenoids and ear pain to severe sleep apnea.

In an interview with TVNET+, Daine-Loža highlights that one common habit – cleaning ears with cotton swabs – can be dangerous. She frequently encounters cases where patients have fragments of cotton swabs or even small toy parts, such as Lego pieces, lodged in their ear canals.

Another major concern is snoring and sleep apnea. The doctor emphasizes that people should not treat snoring themselves with 'miracle remedies' bought online. Such methods are not only ineffective but can also be harmful. Sleep apnea, characterized by pauses in breathing during sleep, is a serious condition often first noticed by partners who raise the alarm. Daine-Loža urges anyone experiencing symptoms to consult a specialist for proper diagnosis and treatment.
