Tuesday to bring windy, partly sunny weather across Latvia
Latvia is set for a windy Tuesday with gusty southwesterly and westerly winds, though cloud cover will thin during the day and temperatures will rise to +15..+18 degrees. The weather is being shaped by the southern edge of a cyclone.

At 5 a.m. on Tuesday, air temperatures across Latvia ranged from +12.1 degrees in Dagda to +16.1 degrees in Mērsrags, according to data from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre. Relative humidity was high, between 80 and 100 percent, with mostly cloudy skies and light rain in some areas.
Westerly and southwesterly winds blew with gusts of 7-14 meters per second, reaching up to 18 meters per second along the coast. Air quality was rated good. In Riga, the morning was cloudy with a southwesterly wind of around five meters per second, gusting to 13 meters per second, while the temperature stayed just under +16 degrees.
More sunshine expected later in the day
On Monday, the maximum temperature recorded across the observation network ranged from +11.1 degrees in Alūksne to +15.4 degrees in Rucava and Ventspils. Forecasters say that although gusty winds will persist on Tuesday, cloud cover will gradually decrease during the day. Westerly wind gusts could reach 13 to 18 meters per second, and the maximum temperature is expected to climb to +15..+18 degrees.
Skies will clear first in the northwest of the country, while some areas may still see light rain in the late morning. In Riga, skies will gradually clear with no precipitation expected, though westerly winds will continue gusting up to 14 meters per second, and the temperature in the capital will warm to +17 degrees.
The weather is currently being shaped by the southern edge of a cyclone. Atmospheric pressure at sea level ranges from 1003 hectopascals in northern Vidzeme to 1011 hectopascals in southwestern Kurzeme.
