Passenger says online tickets sold for 30 seats, but bus only had 18

A passenger named Daiga has used the social network Threads to describe problems with a Kuldīga–Ventspils route operated by SIA Latvijas Sabiedriskais autobuss. In her post, she says both the Mobilly and Bezrindas platforms offered 30 seats for this departure, but a smaller bus with 18 seats arrived. When she asked the driver where the purchased seats were, he allegedly sneered that people should not buy tickets online. Daiga writes that in the 21st century buying tickets on the internet is normal everywhere, but in Latvia it appears to be discouraged.

Another user shared a similar experience. She said she bought an online ticket for a specific seat, but when she boarded at her stop, the seat was already occupied. In her view, the only options were to remain quiet and sit elsewhere or to argue with the passenger. She suggested that reserved seats should be marked before the trip, just as front seats in intercity buses are usually separated.

Latvijas Avīze has asked the Road Transport Administration (Autotransporta direkcija) to explain how more tickets than seats can be sold, how ticket sales are coordinated between platforms, and how passenger rights are protected in these situations. The report will be updated after the administration replies.
