On June 27, the fourth Peter's Day event was held at ‘Pēterkolns’ in Ūzulāji parish, Rēzekne region – a unique gathering where ceramics, fire, music, nature, and people come together. The event hosts, Imants and Dace Losāns, owners of the ceramic family ‘Pēterkolns’, have established a tradition that has become a stable part of Latgale's cultural life.

During the event, a clay kiln built by Stanislavs Viļums was used, holding 20 ceramic works from Latgale region. The hosts emphasize that the goal is to make Latgale ceramics more contemporary and accessible – not only for tourists but also for locals. In everyday life, meeting ceramists and observing the kiln process is difficult, making such public events extremely important.

Attendees could participate in creative workshops and masterclasses, enjoy the hosts' sour porridge and fish soup, and listen to Ieva Saliete's clavicimbal concert, the folk group ‘Zeiļa’s traditional singing, and the band ‘Reibums’. The evening ended with DJ music. Those seeking relaxation could lie in a hammock and enjoy the summer evening.

Among the visitors were both first-timers and regulars. Actor Kārlis Tols, attending for the third time, helped the hosts – peeling potatoes, arranging lanterns and hammocks. He said he feels at home and appreciates spending the traditional solstice period in this way.

The hosts note that this year's organization was easier, building on previous experience. Although there are rumors that Riga tourists are being ‘kept away’ from Latgale, the hosts are confident that the crisis is only in one place. This time, more than 20 ceramic works were taken from the kiln, all made locally in Latgale.

In folk tradition, Peter's Day is linked to weather predictions – if it rains, the rain will last until Anna's Day on July 26. This year, the event enjoyed sunny and hot weather, raising hopes for a beautiful summer and continuation of the tradition next year.
