Phelan named permanent Everton manager
Scott Phelan has been appointed permanent head coach of Everton Women after an interim period, leading the team to eighth in the WSL.

Scott Phelan has been appointed permanent head coach of Everton Women after serving as interim manager since February. The 38-year-old took over when Brian Sorensen was dismissed and guided the team to an eighth-place finish in the Women's Super League (WSL).
At the time of his appointment, Everton were just four points above the relegation zone. Phelan quickly turned things around, securing three consecutive WSL victories to start his interim tenure impressively.
Phelan's connection with Everton runs deep. He joined the club's academy at age eight, progressed through the ranks but never made a senior appearance as a player. He returned to the club as a coach in 2012. Former Everton striker Phil Jevons, who initially returned on an interim basis in February, will continue to support Phelan moving forward.
"I do not take for granted the opportunity to lead our women's team as head coach. I am looking forward to what's ahead," Phelan said. "We want to push forward and try to get back to the place where we believe Everton Football Club should be and that's towards the top end of the table."
