96 Large Cash Declarations at Latvia’s Border in Five Months
In the first five months of this year, individuals declared large sums of cash at Latvia’s border 96 times, with 22 declarations involving cash coming from Russia.

According to customs data, during the first five months of this year, individuals entering or leaving Latvia across the external border of the European Union were required to declare cash amounts of €10,000 or more. Such declarations were made 96 times. Additionally, there were 14 instances where amounts below €10,000 were declared.
Of the total, 22 declarations were made by persons arriving from Russia. In eight of these cases, Latvia was listed as the final destination. The largest amount declared from Russia was €141,801, with Latvia as the stated destination.
Conversely, in 27 cases, Russia was named as the destination country, and in ten of those, Latvia was the country of origin. The highest sum in this category was €244,892, declared in March at the Grebneva customs checkpoint, with Latvia indicated as the source of the funds.
