Buyers now ask for blueberry and mulberry saplings instead of blackcurrant, farmer says
Pēteris Heimanis has run a sapling nursery in Pure parish, Tukums region, for 28 years, now together with his children. According to the grower, buyer interest has shifted from blackcurrants to blueberries and mulberries.

A plant nursery in Pure parish, in Latvia's Tukums region, was founded 28 years ago by Pēteris Heimanis. His son Oskars and daughter Renāte now work there with him. The family spoke about the business on Latvian Radio. According to the headline of the report, buyers are now asking for blueberry and mulberry saplings instead of blackcurrant.
Infrastructure for growing saplings
The farm has built a hangar where saplings are stored over the winter. It also has an irrigation system, and tunnels are used to grow the saplings. The owners told Latvian Radio that they paid for most of this infrastructure themselves.
