Police in Daugavpils Catch First Drunk Drivers During Midsummer Celebrations
Latvian State Police have intensified road checks in Daugavpils, already apprehending the first drivers under the influence, and reminding revelers to plan safe transport if drinking.
The State Police have launched enhanced road checks in Daugavpils that will continue until June 28, specifically focusing on alcohol-impaired driving. The first drunk drivers have already been caught during the raids. Police emphasize that one should only get behind the wheel when completely sober. If alcohol consumption is planned during celebrations, safe return home must be arranged in advance. It is equally important to prevent a friend, relative, or acquaintance from driving while intoxicated. Increased enforcement on roads will remain in place until the end of the month.
