Poland will defend its interests in EU accession talks with Ukraine and Moldova
Poland's Secretary of State for European Affairs Ignacy Niemczycki stated that Poland will defend its national interests during EU accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova, emphasizing that the opening of clusters is only the beginning.

On June 16 in Luxembourg, during the EU General Affairs Council meeting, Poland's Secretary of State for European Affairs Ignacy Niemczycki announced that his country will use the accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova to lobby for its own interests. He recalled that on June 15, the first negotiation cluster with Ukraine was opened, marking the official start of accession talks. Niemczycki stressed that opening clusters means the EU formally presents the conditions that candidate countries must fulfill. "This is the moment when we put forward formal requirements to candidates... Of course, in these negotiations we will fight for our interests," he added. According to an unofficial agreement among EU member states, five clusters are scheduled to be opened with Ukraine on July 14. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, after meeting with G7 leaders in France, stated that currently no one sees obstacles to opening all clusters. The accession negotiations with Ukraine officially began on June 15 in Luxembourg at the second Intergovernmental Conference, where the first negotiation cluster was opened.
