Poland warns residents and again scrambles aircraft over Russian drone attack on Ukraine
Residents of Poland's Lublin and Subcarpathian voivodeships received danger alerts because of a Russian attack on western Ukraine. Poland scrambled its military aviation.

Residents of two south-eastern Polish regions, the Lublin and Subcarpathian voivodeships, received danger alerts on 23 October 2026. The reason was a Russian attack on western regions of Ukraine. Both voivodeships lie along Poland's border with Ukraine.
Alongside the public warnings, Poland sent its military aircraft into the air. The country takes this step when Russian strikes in western Ukraine occur close to the border of a NATO member state. The headline of the Ukrainian outlet Ukrainska Pravda says the aircraft were scrambled again and links the attack to drones.
The report gives no further details on the scale of the attack, how many aircraft were deployed, or any possible damage.
