In the village of Lutora, Poland, construction workers digging a driveway at a private property unearthed 29 fetal remains. A 52-year-old female pathologist, identified only as Magdalena H., was arrested. She is being investigated for desecration of human remains and illegal disposal of hazardous waste, crimes punishable by 2 to 12 years in prison.

Prosecutors reported that the property also contained a significant amount of medical waste, mainly paraffin blocks and microscope slides. Local media said the current owners of the approximately two-hectare plot informed police after starting renovation work. A large-scale operation involving emergency services was launched, and excavations are expected to continue at least until next week.

Among the waste were human fetuses and other remains likely from early-stage human fetuses. Medical experts confirmed the remains were human. The excavator used to find them is being tested for DNA. A specialized water utility vehicle was also sent to the site, raising concerns that nearby drains and sewers may hide additional evidence.

Local residents described the former owner as reclusive and strange. She reportedly bought the house two years ago and sold it six months ago to a young couple who now live there.
