Poland will not transfer MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine due to collapsed swap deal
Polish Defense Minister announced that the country will not hand over MiG-29 jets to Ukraine because Kyiv failed to deliver drones as part of a proposed exchange.

Poland has ruled out transferring its MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine. Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated this in an interview with Polsat News.
The minister revealed that a swap deal had been proposed: Poland would provide MiG-29s in exchange for Ukrainian drones. According to him, Ukraine initially accepted the proposal but did not follow through. “The Ukrainians initially agreed but did not implement the agreement, so Ukraine will not receive MiG aircraft,” Kosiniak-Kamysz said. He added that Poland itself does not have drones or the capability to use them, making the exchange the only viable option.
When asked about Poland’s decision to send military equipment to Ukraine unconditionally at the start of the full-scale invasion, the minister defended the move. “They acted correctly, and I would do the same. Ukraine was in a much more difficult situation at that time,” he said. He also emphasized that the current Polish government takes a firmer stance on protecting national interests.
