Polish Defense Minister Sees Progress in Talks on MiG-29 Transfer to Ukraine
Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz indicated that negotiations on transferring MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine in exchange for drone technology are ongoing and he sees chances for a positive outcome.

Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz has indicated that negotiations with Ukraine on the transfer of MiG-29 fighter jets are still underway and that he sees a positive outcome as possible. This comes after months of back-and-forth between the two countries over the proposed deal.
According to the minister, the specific proposal under discussion involves Poland providing its MiG-29 jets to Ukraine in exchange for drone technology. The Ukrainian side initially agreed, but later reconsidered. However, Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that Ukraine has now returned to the negotiating table, which he views as a good sign. He expressed hope that the deal will be successfully finalized.
Earlier this week, the minister had commented that the issue of transferring the fighter jets was not yet resolved. At the end of June, he reported that Ukraine had rejected the agreement, attributing the breakdown to a historical dispute between Kyiv and Warsaw. The latest remarks suggest that dialogue has resumed and progress may be possible.
The transfer of Polish MiG-29s has been a topic of discussion for some time, as Ukraine continues to seek additional military support against Russian aggression. The proposed swap for drone technology represents one possible avenue for closing the deal.
