Kristaps Porziņģis has reached an agreement with the Golden State Warriors on a two-year contract extension worth $40 million, according to ESPN. The deal averages $20 million per season and includes a player option after the first year, allowing Porziņģis to opt out and become a free agent.
The 30-year-old Latvian big man began last season with the Atlanta Hawks before being traded to the Warriors in February. Due to health issues, he appeared in only 32 regular-season games, 17 with the Hawks and 12 with the Warriors. In those games, he averaged 16.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game.
Porziņģis has been in the NBA since 2015, when he was selected fourth overall by the New York Knicks in the draft. Over his career, he has played for six teams: the Knicks, Dallas Mavericks, Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics, Hawks, and now the Warriors. His previous contract, a two-year, $60 million deal with the Celtics, expired after last season. Porziņģis won an NBA championship with the Celtics in 2024. Estimated career earnings before taxes total $235 million.
