PSG end Barcelona's winning run as Liverpool fight back against Villarreal
In Tuesday's Champions League action, Paris Saint-Germain beat Barcelona and joined Liverpool as the only teams with three wins. Liverpool came back from 2-0 down to beat Villarreal 4-3.
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) ended Barcelona's 11-game winning streak in the UEFA Champions League, Europe's top club football competition, on Tuesday and moved to the top of the table. Lamine Yamal had levelled the score at 2-2 for the Spanish side, but PSG regained the lead through Vitinha, and Fabian Ruiz added a further goal to make it 4-2.
The win was tempered by injuries to attackers Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, which could leave the club without two of its most important forwards. The match was played with a visible police presence outside the stadium, amid violent unrest across France. The disorder began as protests over school conditions and has widened to include other groups and causes, with clashes, fires and looting.
Liverpool's comeback
Liverpool, the English club, also have three wins after beating Spain's Villarreal 4-3. They had trailed 2-0 after an erratic start, with Georges Mikautadze scoring the opener after captain Virgil van Dijk's wayward header. Alexis Mac Allister led the recovery, and 18-year-old Rio Ngumoha set up goals for Ronald Araujo, Mac Allister and Florian Wirtz.
