PVD Initiates Procedure Against 'Topfruit' for Packing Cherries in Closed Premises; 3 Tons Stopped
The Food and Veterinary Service has started an infringement process against SIA 'Topfruit' for packing cherries in unsuitable premises that were previously closed, resulting in the seizure of three tons of products.

The Food and Veterinary Service (PVD) has initiated an administrative infringement procedure against SIA "Topfruit" for violating hygiene requirements. The company was engaged in packing cherries in premises that had previously been closed by a PVD decision and were unsuitable for food processing. This activity posed a serious risk of food contamination.
PVD inspectors found that the packing took place in dirty premises without proper hygiene controls. As a result, three tons of cherries were stopped from entering the market. The company faces administrative liability and potential financial penalties. PVD continues its investigation to determine all circumstances of the violation.
