Reform UK to Hold Press Conference After Police Clear Green Leader Over Anti-Farage Image

Reform UK is holding a press conference this morning featuring party treasury spokesperson Robert Jenrick. While Jenrick intends to discuss Andy Burnham's speech on social care reform, reporters are expected to ask about other developments, including the Metropolitan Police's decision not to charge Green Party leader Zack Polanski.

The Met stated that sharing an image of a man wearing a T-shirt with a guillotine and the phrase "we're only making plans for Nigel" was unlikely to constitute a criminal offence. Since more than 100 others shared the same post, police said it would be unfair to act only against Polanski and disproportionate to investigate everyone. A Reform UK spokesperson called this "two-tier Britain."

Avon and Somerset Police also ruled out action regarding the same T-shirt, worn at an event in Bristol. The force noted no complaints were received and no evidence of intent to threaten.

Separately, Prime Minister Andy Burnham visited Cumbria to confirm an £8.4bn investment in the nuclear submarine replacement programme, supporting 22,000 apprenticeships by 2035. Although the funding was already in the pipeline, a new small apprenticeship scheme for 30 apprentices was announced.

Additionally, a by-election is underway in Greater Manchester to replace Burnham as mayor, and a Reform UK councillor from Sunderland has been charged with posting a grossly offensive message about Nigerians.
