REI's Labor Day Sale Brings Discounts on Camping and Hiking Gear
US retailer REI is running its annual Labor Day Sale from August 28 through September 7, offering discounts of up to 40 percent on outdoor gear. The sale includes tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, cookware, and apparel from REI's own brand as well as other manufacturers.
American outdoor retailer REI has kicked off its annual Labor Day Sale, running from August 28 through September 7. Many items are discounted by up to 40 percent, and REI Co-op members can save an additional up to 20 percent on any item from the REI Outlet selection.
Most of the standout deals come from REI's own house brand, but discounts also extend to other manufacturers, including Mountain Hardwear, Nemo Equipment, Big Agnes, and Coleman. The lineup also incorporates a handful of deals pulled from competing retailer Backcountry and smaller cottage-industry brands.
What's on sale
Among the highlighted items is the REI Co-op Half Dome 2 two-person backpacking tent, which comes with a footprint and is priced at $198, a $131 discount off its regular price. A down trail quilt, the REI Co-op Magma 30, is also discounted to $247. The Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer down hoody has its price cut by $200, bringing it down to $199.
In the cooking category, the MSR PocketRocket Deluxe backpacking stove is available for $64, alongside several other MSR and Jetboil stove models. Water filtration systems are also discounted, including the MSR Guardian and the MSR Gravity Autoflow, both intended for treating drinking water on backcountry trips.
The sale further covers apparel such as Smartwool and REI merino wool base layers, as well as Fjällräven Vidda Pro trousers. Additional discounts apply to tents from Big Agnes and Nemo, tent stakes from MSR, camp chairs, and sleeping bags from several brands, including Kelty.
The sale is positioned as an opportunity to purchase hiking and camping equipment at reduced prices ahead of the fall season.
