Frankenburg Technologies, an Estonian startup, has officially opened its first factory in the Baltics – a weapon systems and missile assembly plant in Riga. The facility will focus on the production of Mark I guided anti-aircraft missiles, including electronics assembly, weapon systems integration, testing, and quality control.

EU Defense Commissioner Andrius Kubilius attended the opening ceremony. Construction of the factory took one year. The plant covers almost 1,000 square meters and is expected to employ 50 people.

The company aims to reach a production capacity of 100 missiles per day by the end of this year, in combination with a planned final assembly plant in Ādaži. Total output for this year is planned at 1,500 missiles. CEO Kusti Salms stated that the interception cost of Mark I missiles will drop more than tenfold, enabling mass production for Europe and allies.

After starting production in Latvia, Frankenburg Technologies plans to expand to Estonia, the United Kingdom, and Poland, with the goal of producing one million missiles annually. Commissioner Kubilius noted that this approach exemplifies the modernization needed for European defense.

According to Firmas.lv, the Latvian subsidiary SIA Frankenburg Technologies was registered in October 2024 with a capital of €3,800. The beneficial owner is Taavi Madiberk, co-founder and CEO of Skeleton Technologies.
