Riga defeats debutants in the first match at Ogre Stadium
On Saturday, in the 17th round of the Tonybet Latvian Football Virslīga, Riga beat Ogre United 4-1 away, with Ogre playing their first home match at the Ogre stadium. Goals from Badamosi, Jurkovskis, Toņiševs, and M'Hands ensured the victory.

On June 13, in the 17th round of the Tonybet Latvian Football Virslīga, the reigning champions Riga faced debutants Ogre United, who were playing their first ever home game at the newly opened Ogre Stadium. Riga took an early lead when a penalty was awarded after Maksims Toņiševs was fouled in the box. Muhammed Badamosi converted from the spot in the 17th minute. Before halftime, Toņiševs set up Raivis Andris Jurkovskis, who scored from about ten meters to make it 2-0.
In the second half, Riga continued to dominate. Toņiševs scored in the 48th minute after controlling the ball in the penalty area, making it 3-0. Ogre pulled one back nine minutes later through Emīls Evelons, who finished from close range. However, Riga restored their three-goal lead in the 65th minute when Juan Pereira won the ball near the byline and passed to Zinedins M'Hands, who netted the final goal of the match, making it 4-1.
Later on Saturday, league leaders RFS played against Grobiņa in Liepāja, while third-placed Auda hosted Jelgava. On Friday, Liepāja defeated Super Nova 3-1, and Tukums 2000 drew 1-1 with Daugavpils.
After this round, RFS lead the table with 43 points from 16 games, followed by Riga with 42 points from 17 matches. Auda are third with 34 points, and Liepāja fourth with 25. Ogre United remain at the bottom with only 4 points. The season consists of four rounds, totaling 36 matchdays, with the final round scheduled for November 8.
