Fallen trees disrupt tram, trolleybus and bus traffic in Riga
Strong winds have caused trees to fall onto tram tracks and overhead power lines in Riga, halting traffic on several public transport routes, though some have since resumed operation.

Traffic on several tram, trolleybus and bus routes in Riga has been temporarily suspended, according to the public transport operator Rīgas satiksme.
The cause is the same across all affected routes: strong wind has been knocking down trees, which have fallen onto tram tracks and onto the overhead contact lines used by trams and trolleybuses, making it unsafe or impossible for vehicles to continue operating on those sections.
Rīgas satiksme reports that traffic on some of the affected routes has already been restored after the fallen trees were cleared from the tracks and lines. The company did not specify which exact routes remain blocked and which have returned to normal operation.
Residents relying on public transport are advised to follow official updates from Rīgas satiksme, as further disruptions caused by the wind may still affect services on various routes in the coming hours.
