Police crisis exercise to take place at Riga Central Railway Station overnight
On the night of 4–5 November, the State Police will hold a simulated crisis exercise at Riga Central Railway Station together with railway companies. The aim is to strengthen cooperation between the institutions and their readiness to respond to crises.

A crisis simulation exercise will take place at Riga Central Railway Station on the night of 4 to 5 November. It is being organised by the State Police of Latvia in cooperation with the state-owned company Latvijas dzelzceļš (Latvian Railway) and the passenger rail operator AS Pasažieru vilciens, which trades under the brand Vivi. The police announced the event.
Purpose of the exercise
According to the police, the exercise is meant to strengthen cooperation between the institutions involved. It is also intended to improve their readiness to respond to crisis situations. The event is a staged simulation, so it is a training drill rather than a real incident.
Who is involved
Three organisations are taking part: the State Police, Latvijas dzelzceļš and Pasažieru vilciens, whose services passengers know under the name Vivi. The venue is Riga Central Railway Station.
The information released by the police does not say which scenario will be played out, how many people will take part, or whether the exercise will affect train traffic.
