Estonian Youth Circus Show "InFluency" to Visit Riga Circus During School Break
On 24 October, the Riga Circus arena will host "InFluency", a show created by young performers from the Estonian contemporary circus group TsirkusFolie. Workshops for children will follow the performance.

The Estonian contemporary circus group TsirkusFolie will perform its show "InFluency" ("IeTEKme" in Latvian) at the Riga Circus arena, Merķeļa Street 4, on Saturday, 24 October at 11:00, as part of the venue's Children's Morning programme. The show's creators and performers are young people themselves, who use acrobatics, movement and imagination to present their generation's view of the modern world. It is aimed at school-age children and teenagers and is offered as a cultural outing for families during the autumn school break.
What the show is about
Six young circus artists from Tallinn look for an answer to the question of how to find one's place in a world where events, news and impressions keep changing. Using acrobatics and circus language, they stage the meeting of two parallel worlds: in one, information overload and outside influences dominate; in the other, it is possible to open up to fantasy and creativity. Balancing between the two, the performers search for a way not to lose themselves in the noise around them.
TsirkusFolie is one of the pioneers of contemporary circus education in Estonia and has been active for more than 25 years. Riga Circus director Māra Pāvula says that, after two earlier appearances at the RE RĪGA! festival, the circus is pleased to host the group in its own arena. In her view, it is important for Latvian children to see that at the circus their ideas and experiences can turn into art.
Workshops after the show
The Children's Morning programme lets visitors not only watch but also try circus disciplines. After the performance, TsirkusFolie's young artists will lead workshops where participants can learn the basics of ball and diabolo juggling, try aerial acrobatics on a trapeze, or take a tour of the historic Riga Circus building. A scarf-juggling workshop is planned for children aged four to seven. Ilze Tormane-Kļaviņa, head of the Riga Circus school, stresses that in circus schools children learn to trust themselves and others, to cooperate and not to be afraid of making mistakes.
Practical information
The show lasts 45 minutes, and the recommended age is 8+. Tickets cost from 5 to 36 euros. Taking part in the workshops and the tour requires a combined ticket, which is available in limited numbers. The show is accessible to wheelchair users and people with hearing impairments. Tickets and more information are available on the Riga Circus website.
