Riga's largest hospitals lack underground shelters; employ other safety measures
None of Riga's major hospitals have underground shelters, but they have developed alternative safety plans and are planning to build new shelters.
Lack of Shelters in Riga Hospitals
According to LSM, not one of Riga's large hospitals has an underground shelter where patients and staff could take cover during an air raid or other threat. However, this does not mean that patients are left unprotected.
Alternative Safety Solutions
The hospitals have drawn up specific safety plans that include other measures to ensure people's protection in crisis situations. Additionally, several medical institutions plan to construct new shelters in the future to enhance security.
