Latvian indie-pop band “Rīgas Modes” has dropped their new single “Vai tu tici horoskopiem?” (“Do You Believe in Horoscopes?”). It is the last teaser before the release of their third studio album titled “Mīla un ziedošanās” (“Love and Devotion”), which is slated to come out in late summer or early autumn.
The song reflects the band members’ thoughts on compatibility within the group. They describe themselves as very different individuals, sometimes questioning how well they get along, but acknowledge that this diversity brings unpredictability to their music. The track originated from a simple piano motif.
Featured on the single is American trumpeter Jason Hunter, who lives in Estonia. The collaboration came about after the band met Hunter at the “Rīgas Ritmi” festival. When working on the song, they felt that trumpet would be a perfect fit. Hunter recorded his part without any alterations, and it seamlessly integrated into the track.
A music video has also been produced, showing band members Kalvis Bormanis and Madara Gaile driving a 1970 Cadillac DeVille through the streets of Riga at night. The video was directed by Andrejs Skurjats (Dree), with his brother Aleksejs Skurjats also contributing to its creation.
