At its annual Roblox Developer Conference, the company announced a broad set of updates covering game creation, cross-platform distribution, and creator finances.

Easier creation with AI

Roblox is expanding its generative AI tool called "Build," which lets users create games through natural language prompts. First introduced in July and initially limited to New Zealand, the feature is now rolling out to Serbia and Singapore as well. Build will soon support desktop access for big-screen creation, a new asset library, and iterative editing controls. Later this year, a prompt-based scene-generation feature will be added, eventually extending to Roblox Studio too.

Games reaching beyond Roblox

Creators will soon be able to release their games as standalone apps for mobile, PC, and consoles, with Roblox serving as the underlying game engine. By the end of the year, players will also be able to join games directly through a browser link.

The platform is also enhancing NPCs, including versions that can playtest games later this year, and will let creators add an offline mode so players can keep playing with weak connectivity. A new Friends chat tab will follow players across games, and an improved discovery algorithm will match shorter games to younger users and longer ones to older users.

New financial tools for creators

Roblox said creators have earned more than $5 billion on the platform since 2013, including $1.7 billion over the past 12 months. To help creators manage that money, the company is launching Roblox Wallet, allowing same-day payouts in real currency and transfers to bank accounts, in partnership with Airwallex, initially for U.S. users aged 18 and up. A Roblox Card, letting users spend earnings anywhere the card is accepted, is planned for launch next year.

Roblox founder and CEO David Baszucki said players spent more than 29 billion hours on the platform last quarter across 180 countries.
