Roblox will offer AI-generated game creation on mobile later this year
Roblox announces Build, a new feature that uses AI tools to let players create games and interactive experiences from natural language prompts, starting with a public alpha in New Zealand on July 28.

Roblox has unveiled plans for its next chapter in user-generated content with a new feature called Build. This toolset will leverage AI to help players create games and interactive experiences directly on mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, for the first time.
The system combines open-source and proprietary AI models, allowing users to describe what they want in natural language, and the AI will generate game elements accordingly. The public alpha of Build will launch on July 28, initially available only to users in New Zealand, with plans to expand to more regions in the following months.
To use Build, players must be at least 9 years old. Any creations that pass safety checks and are published will be accessible globally to users aged 16 and older. These age restrictions are part of Roblox's broader safety efforts, though the company's earlier age verification systems faced criticism and issues.
Last month, Roblox introduced restricted account tiers, and now with Build, the company hopes to empower creators. However, it remains to be seen whether this AI-driven approach will be a positive application or another misstep for the platform.
