Rocket Bean Coffee Shop Ranked Among Top 50 in Europe
Latvia's specialty coffee roaster and cafe Rocket Bean placed 51st in a competition evaluating over 5,300 European coffee shops, proving Latvia's ability to compete internationally.
Rocket Bean coffee shop on Miera Street in Riga has been ranked 51st among the best coffee shops in Europe in the largest evaluation of the European coffee industry. This year's competition compared more than 5,300 coffee shops from various markets, including countries with long-standing coffee traditions and rapidly emerging players.
Vilmārs Vjakse, head of Rocket Bean, stated that this result demonstrates that Latvia's specialty coffee culture can compete at a European level, even against markets where this culture has been developing for decades. The achievement is significant not only for the company but also for Latvia as a whole, as it confirms the ability of local businesses to create high-value-added products and services recognized internationally. It also strengthens Riga's position as a gastronomic destination and assures foreign visitors that they can enjoy coffee in Riga comparable to leading European cities.
Rocket Bean has been operating in the specialty coffee sector for over ten years, developing both coffee roasting and cafe culture. The company is actively investing in the industry's development, planning to open a new roastery and coffee education center this summer, with an investment exceeding 2.5 million euros. Company representatives note that consumers in Latvia are increasingly interested in coffee origin, roast level, and brewing methods, indicating a maturing coffee culture and growing demand for high-quality, freshly roasted coffee. Vjakse emphasizes the goal of continuing to develop coffee consumption culture and awareness of quality, flavor, and origin, a trend that aligns with more developed European markets.
