Roku launches a new channel made entirely of AI-generated video
Roku has added a free ad-supported channel filled with AI-generated content from startup Fairground, but a hands-on review found the programming rough, disjointed and lacking polish.

Roku has expanded its free ad-supported streaming (FAST) lineup with four new channels this week. Three feature familiar sitcom and game-show reruns, but the fourth, Fairground AI Creator TV, is notable for being made up entirely of AI-generated video.
The channel is run by Fairground, a startup founded in 2025 and led by Colin Petrie-Norris. The company is reportedly also developing AI-generated adaptations of Robin Hood and Dracula. Landing a spot on Roku marks a significant step for the young company, giving it access to a large potential audience.
No consistent style or genre
Like other FAST channels, Fairground's stream can't be browsed by title — viewers can only nudge playback a few seconds forward or back. A Verge reporter who watched for about an hour described a scattershot mix of short-form clips with no unifying theme: some appeared to be trained on anime footage, others resembled unconvincing photorealistic CGI. A few clips did show flashes of coherent storytelling, including a horror segment about defeating a demon through mockery and a fantasy sequence that seemed to draw on Greek mythology.
While the videos show some signs of post-production editing, their visual quality falls noticeably short of the professionally produced shows and movies that appear in the ads interspersed throughout the stream.
Fairground's website states that it compensates its content partners and shares an undisclosed portion of platform revenue with them, but it does not disclose which AI models are used or whether the training data behind them was properly licensed. Unlike AI companies that claim their tools can eventually rival major studio productions, Fairground says its programming is built for casual, background viewing in the living room rather than to compete head-on with traditional entertainment.
