RTU students develop route-planning system for couriers

Students at Riga Technical University (RTU) have developed a test version of a program intended to make route planning easier for couriers.
The idea addresses a common problem: traffic and delivery conditions can change while a courier is already on the road, even after a delivery plan has been finalized. In such situations, the new system is meant to help both couriers and dispatchers respond more quickly.
How it would work
The program would allow users to promptly select the most suitable delivery routes and adjust them along the way if necessary. This would give couriers and dispatchers the ability to adapt to changing circumstances without having to rebuild the original plan from scratch.
Goal: greater efficiency
The main purpose of the system developed by the students is to raise the operational efficiency of Latvijas pasts by reducing the time and resources spent correcting routes under changing conditions. The software is currently at the testing stage, and its further development and implementation will depend on subsequent steps.
