On 14 August, lifeguards at the Romanian resort of Saturn spotted wreckage of a military drone on the beach and immediately alerted emergency services. Police, gendarmerie officers and staff from the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations in Constanța County arrived at the scene, and tourists were evacuated from the area while checks were conducted.

Law enforcement personnel are now working to recover the wreckage from both the Black Sea and the beach itself. The drone's origin remains unknown, though local broadcaster Antena3 suggested it was most likely washed ashore by waves.

Similar incidents on the same day

The discovery in Saturn came a day after drone wreckage — possibly from the same device — was found on the beach at Costinești, located roughly 17 kilometres away. Also on 14 August, a drone crashed in Romania's Tulcea County, about five kilometres from the border with Ukraine.

On the same day, three suspicious objects were discovered at separate locations along Bulgaria's Black Sea coast: a fixed-wing drone believed to be for reconnaissance, and a further probable piece of drone wreckage.
