Latvia's parliament, the Saeima, adopted amendments to its Rules of Procedure in the final reading on Thursday, 22 October. The document sets out how the Saeima and its members work and how sessions are run. The amendments remove the provision that governs the compensation of lawmakers' expenses.

The issue is planned to be regulated by a different law rather than by the rules of procedure. The source does not say which law this would be, when the new arrangement would take effect or which expenses are compensated, so those questions remain open.

The decision means that the regulation of MPs' expense compensation is to be moved to another legal act, while the provision itself is deleted from the rules of procedure.
