Riga Begins Sending Invitations for 10th Grade Admissions
Riga municipality started sending out invitations for 10th grade enrollment on July 2. A total of 5,332 applicants submitted 41,581 applications, with STEM programs being the most popular.

On Wednesday, July 2, Riga municipality began sending invitations to applicants for enrollment in the 10th grade of Riga educational institutions for the 2026/2027 academic year. The first invitations have been confirmed, and students have been admitted to their chosen schools, indicating a smooth operation of the electronic system.
This year, 5,332 applicants applied for 10th grade places in Riga schools. In total, 41,581 applications were submitted, averaging 785 applications per school. The highest number of invited applicants is at Riga State Classical Gymnasium, followed by Riga Āgenskalns State Gymnasium, Riga State 1st Gymnasium, Riga State 2nd Gymnasium, and Riga State 3rd Gymnasium.
Among all applicants, 560 submitted only one application, while 89.5% applied to more than one school. 28.7% of applicants submitted at least 10 applications, and one applicant submitted 80 applications. There are 146 different educational directions available, with the highest interest in mathematics, natural sciences, and other STEM fields.
The most sought-after program is the mathematics, English, and natural sciences direction at Riga State 1st Gymnasium. Other popular programs include the general education and mathematics direction at Riga State 2nd Gymnasium, as well as the natural sciences and European studies direction at Riga English Gymnasium, the general education direction at Riga French Lyceum, and the general education directions at Riga 64th Secondary School and Riga Teika Secondary School.
Riga municipality advises parents and future secondary school students not to delay their decision beyond the 72-hour deadline after receiving an invitation. Timely confirmation or rejection allows the admission process to proceed faster and gives other applicants a chance to receive invitations sooner. In some cases, incorrect email addresses were provided in applications; in such situations, schools will contact the applicant directly.
