Pre-orders for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI have officially begun. Rockstar opened reservations at midnight, five months ahead of the November 19 release date on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X.

Pricing has been confirmed: the standard edition costs $80 in the US, £70 in the UK, and €80 in Europe. The Ultimate Edition ($100/£90/€100) includes exclusive in-game vehicles, clothing, and weapons, as well as in-game stores accessible only to Ultimate owners. Pre-order customers will receive a Vintage Vice City pack featuring 80s-themed apparel.

Notably, the game will not be available on a physical disc at launch. Boxed copies will contain a download code instead. Game news site VGC suggests this helps prevent early leaks and reduces manufacturing costs, maximizing revenue for parent company Take-Two Interactive.

Another omission at launch is a modern version of GTA Online, the hugely successful multiplayer mode. Rockstar has confirmed that GTA VI will initially be a single-player experience only. Despite these factors, analysts predict massive sales: 40 million units in the first year, compared to GTA V's 32.5 million (which has sold over 230 million total).

The game returns to the fictional state of Leonida (based on Florida) and features a revamped Vice City. Described as a romantic crime drama, protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos are career criminals seeking to go legit.

Production has faced challenges: multiple delays, gameplay leaks, and a lawsuit over firing 30 employees allegedly retaliated for unionizing. However, with other publishers clearing the launch window and pre-orders alone projected to hit $1 billion within an hour by analyst Tom Henderson, hype remains high.
