Former Jēkabpils Mayor Salcevičs Appeals Verdict in Basketball Club Document Forgery Case
Andris Salcevičs, the former mayor of Jēkabpils, has appealed the court ruling in a criminal case concerning the forgery of annual reports for the basketball club 'Jēkabpils', according to the prosecutor's office.

Former Jēkabpils mayor Andris Salcevičs, who previously admitted guilt in document forgery, has appealed the court's verdict in this case. The prosecution alleges that Salcevičs, acting as chairman of the board of the basketball club 'Jēkabpils', forged annual reports related to management services from the company SIA 'Science House 5' – a company that had been dissolved for several years.
Prosecutor Kristaps Radkēvičs told Latvijas Televīzija that fictitious invoices were issued. The total amount for 2019 was 18,000 euros, and for 2020 – 48,000 euros. The submission of the annual reports occurred while Salcevičs was also an advisor to the then Finance Minister Jānis Reirs (JV).
In September last year, Latvijas Televīzija reported that Salcevičs had admitted guilt in this criminal case. It is also known that he is involved in another criminal process currently under investigation by the State Police's Economic Crime Prevention Division. As the investigation is ongoing, police have not provided further comments.
