The Food and Veterinary Service (PVD) reports finding salmonella in several chicken meat products imported from Poland. Tests revealed different salmonella strains – Salmonella Enteritidis, Salmonella Infantis, and Salmonella Newport.

Specifically, contamination was found in Polish-origin chicken hams with batch number 6450725501 and chicken breast fillet slices. Salmonella was also detected in chicken hearts in 400-gram packages (batch 20146948) and chicken fillet strips.

PVD emphasizes that all these products have already expired and are no longer available in stores. However, the service has submitted relevant notifications to the European Union's Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF).

PVD is a state administrative institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, responsible for food chain and veterinary surveillance in Latvia.
