Samsung to launch new wide foldable on July 22nd
Samsung has announced its next Galaxy Unpacked event for July 22, expected to introduce a third foldable format – a shorter and wider model, alongside updates to Flip, Fold, and Galaxy Watches.
Samsung has officially confirmed that its next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on July 22nd. The tagline for the event is “A new shape unfolds,” hinting at the introduction of a novel foldable device.
Rumors have long suggested that Samsung is expanding its foldable phone lineup with a third form factor – a shorter and wider version compared to its existing book-style foldables. This move is seen as a response to competitors like Huawei’s Pura X Max and Apple’s anticipated foldable iPhone. Today’s announcement reinforces that speculation: promotional materials show a tall ticket with a stub torn off, leaving it shorter.
In addition to the wide foldable, Samsung is expected to unveil updated versions of its Galaxy Flip and Galaxy Fold phones. The Fold model may be rebranded as the Z Fold 8 Ultra to distinguish it from the new form factor. New Galaxy Watches are also likely, with potential updates to both the standard Galaxy Watch and the premium Ultra model.
The Galaxy Unpacked event will be held in London, UK, kicking off at 9am ET on July 22nd.
