Samsung Gallery to End OneDrive Syncing in September 2026
Samsung and Microsoft are discontinuing direct OneDrive integration in the Samsung Gallery app. Users will need to use the OneDrive app itself or alternative services after the deadline.

Samsung and Microsoft have confirmed that direct synchronization between Samsung Gallery and Microsoft OneDrive will be discontinued at the end of September 2026. This change will affect all Samsung Galaxy users who rely on OneDrive to back up their photos and videos.
According to a Microsoft statement issued in mid-May, after October 1, 2026, Samsung Gallery will no longer sync directly with OneDrive. This means photos stored in OneDrive will no longer appear in the Gallery app, and sync-dependent features—such as viewing synced images on Samsung TVs or smart appliances—will stop working. However, files already in OneDrive remain accessible and can be downloaded back to the device.
Samsung has already begun phasing out the feature; new users no longer see the OneDrive sync option in the Gallery settings. The option is expected to be absent from upcoming Galaxy Z Fold8 and Flip8 devices, which are set to launch at the Samsung Unpacked event in London later this month.
To continue backing up photos to OneDrive, users can download the official OneDrive app from the Google Play Store and enable the camera backup feature. Alternatives include Google Photos, Dropbox, and Amazon photo services. For those seeking more control, self-hosted solutions like Immich (a Google Photos alternative) or Nextcloud (a full cloud platform) are available, but require personal hardware such as a NAS or home server and proper network configuration.
