The Saulkrasti Municipality has received a complaint signed by 62 residents expressing outrage over the actions of VAS "Latvijas dzelzceļš" (LDz). The company installed a fence that blocks a historically used path between Brāļu Kaudzīšu and Avotu streets. For years, this path served as the most direct and convenient route to shops, bus stops, and the sea. Now residents must take a much longer detour.

Although the municipality states that the fence installation was not coordinated with them and no official explanation from LDz has been received, it is understood that the measure is for traffic safety reasons, as the railway section is on a curve. LDz likely aims to redirect pedestrians to the official crossing on Murjāņu Street, which is approximately 600 meters away from the densely populated area, located in the middle of a forest. Another exit to the city center leads under the railway bridge to Skolas Street, crossing the Pēterupe River, but this area regularly floods during high water and heavy rains.

The municipality has sent a letter to LDz management, urging a more resident-friendly solution and evaluating the possibility of installing a new pedestrian crossing between Vītiņu and Brāļu Kaudzīšu streets. It also notes that railway infrastructure issues are not limited to one neighborhood – for example, access to the property "Mācītājmuiža" via Skolas Street frequently floods, and due to bridge maintenance structures, it is impossible to raise the roadway, hindering emergency services.

In the long term, the municipality is discussing with LDz and the Ministry of Transport the relocation of the Inčupe railway station opposite Baltā kāpa (White Dune), creating a new stop "Baltā kāpa" that would serve as a convenient and safe crossing point. While solutions are being sought, the municipality calls on residents not to cross the railway at undesignated locations and to exercise caution.
