Savannah Guthrie renews plea for answers in mother’s disappearance
TV host Savannah Guthrie has released a new video appealing for information about her mother Nancy Guthrie, who disappeared from her home in Tucson, Arizona, on February 1. Authorities believe the 84-year-old was abducted, and the family has offered a $1 million reward.
Savannah Guthrie, host of NBC’s "Today," posted an emotional video on Instagram on Monday, asking those responsible for her mother’s disappearance to “do the right thing” and help the family locate her. Nearly six months have passed since Nancy Guthrie went missing.
“It has been months since our mom was taken from us. Our family is in agony. We are in a nightmare that will not end. Nothing about our situation has changed. We have done our part. We will never stop looking for her,” Guthrie said in the video.
She continued: “I truly believe it is never too late to do the right thing. Help us bring this situation to an end. For all of us, no matter where we’ve been and what we’ve done, I believe there is always a way home. Please make the right choice.”
Nancy Guthrie, 84, was reported missing from her home in Tucson, Arizona, on February 1. Investigators believe she was abducted. Traces of blood were found on the porch, and a glove discovered two miles from the home yielded DNA. The glove was initially linked to a suspect seen in surveillance footage but was later discredited after it was found to belong to a restaurant worker, not the kidnapper.
Guthrie has used her national platform to raise awareness about her mother’s case, frequently sharing updates and appeals. The family is offering a $1 million reward for information leading to her mother’s safe return. The FBI has added a $100,000 reward and is searching for a man approximately 5 feet 9 to 5 feet 10 inches tall with an average build. As of Monday, no arrests had been made.
