Savannah Guthrie Makes Another Plea to Mother's Kidnappers
The 'Today' show co-anchor released a new video pleading for information about her mother Nancy Guthrie, who was abducted from her Arizona home in January.
Savannah Guthrie, co-anchor of NBC's 'Today' show, posted a video on Monday once again appealing to the kidnappers of her mother, Nancy Guthrie, who disappeared from her home in Arizona in January.
In the video, Guthrie said: 'It has been months since our mum was taken from us. Our family is in agony. We are in a nightmare that will not end. Nothing about our situation has changed. We have done our part, and we will never stop looking for her. We will always ache for her and feel that hole in our hearts.' She added: 'Help us bring this situation to an end. For all of us, no matter where we've been and what we've done, I believe there is always a way home. Please make the right choice.'
Two ransom notes believed to be credible were sent to the family and news media shortly after the kidnapping. The first demanded millions of dollars in Bitcoin for her release; the second stated that she had died, according to US media citing unnamed sources. Guthrie has previously said some notes may be fake and that her mother may no longer be alive.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department said the investigation remains active but declined to comment on the ransom notes. The FBI and local authorities have spent months investigating the disappearance. Nancy Guthrie, who requires daily medication, vanished after being dropped off at her home by relatives one evening in January. She failed to appear the next morning at a friend's house to watch a virtual church service.
Earlier this year, authorities released images of a masked and armed suspect who covered the front door camera at Nancy Guthrie's home before her disappearance. The initial ransom note, sent the day after she went missing, included specific details about her home and bedroom.
